Lynard Jackson made his appearance into the world on July 20, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the oldest of two children. His mother, Betty Jackson Edwards, affectionately called him “Jabbo,” and his stepfather Sidney Edwards called him “da Vinch,” after the artist Leonardo da Vinci. At an early age, Lynard showed a natural talent for drawing and an enduring love for music. He spent many hours perfecting his skills as a talented DJ and sharing his passion for music with friends and family. He also loved comic book superheroes and sports. Lynard initially attended Corliss High School in Chicago, Illinois, and later earned his high school diploma from Chicago Vocational High School.
Lynard moved from Chicago and settled in the Orlando, Florida area, where he met and married his wife, Angela Hercules-Jackson. He and Angela were blessed with two children: their son, Lynard R. Jackson, Jr. (R.J.), and Lynard’s daughter, Lynnette Jackson.
“Lem”, the nickname many of his close friends called him as he grew up in Princeton Park in Chicago, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, barbequing, eating great food, watching movies, and living life. Lynard was fiercely loyal and protective of those he loved, and his spirit and enthusiasm for life were infectious, as evidenced by his many wonderful and lasting friendships.
Lynard also had a deep and abiding love for the Lord, and stood firm in his faith in God through many trials and triumphs. He often attended the Experience Christian Center in Orlando, Florida. No matter what life put in front of Lynard, he always turned to God to strengthen and guide him.
Our beloved Lynard was called home by the Lord on November 4, 2017. Lynard is survived by his loving wife, Angela Hercules-Jackson; son, Lynard R. Jackson, Jr. (R.J.); daughter, Lynnette D. Jackson; mother, Betty J. Edwards of Tucson, AZ; stepfather, Sidney I. Edwards of Chicago, IL; sister, Marcie L. Hawkins and brother-in-law Kevin Hawkins of Yorba Linda, CA; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and close friends.

I had the privilege to meet Lynard at work. He was know as LJ to me. We became close friends from the start and we referred to each other as brother and sister. We would pass the work day by talking and laughing about everything. LJ would often speak of the love for his children especially his son. He reached out to me a couple of weeks ago and informed me he wasn't feeling well but he is hanging in there. I'm going to truly miss LJ and all of his back in the days stories. To his family my blessings and condolences are truly with you.

To our beloved Soror Marcie Hawkins and the entire Jackson and Hawkins families:

We were deeply saddened to hear about the death of your brother, Lynard Jackson. Through our relationships with you, we know that your brother’s beautiful and rich spirit blessed all of you, and will continue to bless you and your family. We also know that his grace will continue to shine upon you and your family. We hope the following scripture is a comfort to you during this time.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. Psalm 46:1

Please know that you and the entire Jackson and Hawkins families hold a special place in our hearts, and we care deeply for you all. We know that God will bring peace and rest to you and your family during the following days, weeks, and months.

Lynard was a good man with a good heart. We worked together for 2 years and he was a real go-getter. He could sweet talk any customer until they were putty in his hands. He had a laugh and a smile that were infectious! We spent many late night hours on the phone over the past 5 years talking about life and family and God. We even took the time to pray together. LJ will be missed by many and my thoughts and prayers go to his loving wife, son & daughter. May they find peace and comfort in the Lord during this time of mourning and reflection.
